Dr. John Vandermeer is a native of Highland Park and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1983. He received his undergraduate education in Biomedical Science at Texas A & M University and his veterinary degree from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduation in 1990, Dr. Vandermeer returned to Dallas and joined Highland Park Animal Hospital. Dr. Vandermeer has served on the Texas Veterinary Medical Association Board of Directors, as president of Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association Board and as president of the Dallas Emergency Animal Clinic. He served on the board of directors for the SPCA of Texas and the board of directors for Southwestern Diabetic Foundation. He is also Fear Free Certified.
He and his wife, Dr. Wendy Dearixon, live in University Park and have three children Emily, Marshall, and Hannah. In his spare time Dr. Vandermeer enjoys reading, traveling, fishing in addition to spending time at his ranch with his family. They have three dogs: Dale, the Hardluck Hound, Lola and Ricky Bobby, and two cats named Kip and Duke.
