Unlike ultrasound, which focuses on soft tissue detail, X-rays are ideal for seeing bones, joints, and larger structures. At Highland Park Animal Hospital, we use digital radiography, which provides better image quality and reduced radiation compared to traditional X-ray film.

Types of Radiographs We Perform

Thoracic (Chest) Radiographs

Used for respiratory issues (coughing, wheezing, pneumonia, asthma), heart problems (enlarged heart, abnormal sounds, shortness of breath), trauma, and cancer screening.

Abdominal Radiographs

Used for gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhea), abdominal pain or bloating, ingested foreign objects, and suspected masses.
